Step 1 out of 7 in Creating Your Heart's Desire Written by Carol Lorraine
HELLO! WELCOME & CONGRATULATIONS! On taking the first step toward making your dreams come true with my signature program--
7 Steps to Creating Your Heart’s Desire Or Growing a Life You Love!
I hope you enjoy learning and growing with FUN and EASE!
This program has been created to guide you through a 7 step process to creating anything your heart desires. You can begin by focusing on one step a week. As you begin to grow your heart’s desire, and plant your “seeds” you will see that it becomes more of a circular process and you are working on many of the steps at the same time, just like growing a garden.
The great thing about a self-study program is that you can go as slow or fast as you like and repeat it as often as you care to.
Remember…
There has never been another you. You are one of a kind. This is your life, your one and only life. Enjoy growing it!
You determine what’s possible. So ask small questions. Take small steps. Then notice how high your garden grows, how big your flowers blossom, and how beautiful it is!
THIS IS YOUR CREATIVE LIFE THAT YOU LOVE!
You will never have more time than you do right now! So let’s begin!
STEP ONE—PREPARE yourself and your brain for CREATIVITY!
Turn your “WHAT IF” into “WHAT IS!”
“You have brains in your head and feet in your shoes You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own and you know what you know And youare the one who’ll decide where to go.” Dr. Seuss
PLAYFUL GARDENING ACTIVITY~ORGANIZE~ Get a 3 ring binder and tabs or set up a file on your computer or i pad to use for the class.
I will “garden” this week on (day/s)_________ (time)_________
How I feel at the beginning of week 1: (1-10, 10 highest)
Body_________ Mind__________ Spirit__________
QUIET REFLECTION~VISUALIZE for 30 seconds a day: Close your eyes and bring back YOUR PICTURE of your seed idea that came to you during our first class…Sights? Smells? Feelings? Tastes? Sounds? Who? Where? What? Why? How? Pretend that you are engaged in the action you see. Imagine the movement of your muscles. How do your bones feel, your skin? Feel the rise and fall of your emotions.
Write down your experiences on page 9.
The brain thinks it is performing the imagined activity. This changes the brain’s chemistry and rewires its cells and the connections between cells. It will train your brain to develop new skills! Repetition is the key!
CURIOUS DISCOVERIES~ASK QUESTIONS~ BRAINSTORM~ Make a QUICK list
Where am I now in regards to my heart’s desire?
What’s stopping me from going for it?
3 small steps I can do next and by when (actual date):
1. 2. 3.
What is special about my creative process, talents, business team…etc.? Or what am I naturally good at? What comes easy to me?
What type of work would excite and fulfill me? (if time and money are not an object)
Who could I ask for help or inspiration?
What are 20 things that I am passionate about or that I love doing? Use a verb/action word
Where can I go to be around others who believe in me? Support is crucial!
If I were 100% certain that my seed idea would be sprouting in a month, what would I be doing differently?
What is one small step that I can take toward growing my heart’s desire today? (You will know it is small enough when you are as certain that you can do it as you are that the sun will come up tomorrow.)
NO HARSH or NEGATIVE QUESTIONS are ALLOWED…like “Why am I so stupid?” “Why haven’t I gotten this yet?” “ What is wrong with me?” I can’t do this!
When you catch yourself judging or criticizing yourself Stop and ASK: What is one thing I like about myself today? WRITE it down and keep in your journal or class binder.
Mozart wrote to a friend, “People err who think my art comes easily to me. I assure you, dear friend; nobody has devoted so much time and thought to composition as I. There is not a famous master whose music I have not industriously studied through many times.”
If you want to master something study someone who has mastered it already!
GARDENING TOOLS~RITUALS of PREPARATION
We all have rituals in our day whether we are aware of them or not. Some people get up and stretch or do yoga, walk with or without their dogs, read the paper with their coffee or tea, have a meeting with an assistant, walk in the garden…
CREATE A DAILY MORNING RITUAL for YOURSELF or acknowledge the one you do. Bring it to class next week to share. Creativity is a habit and takes practice.
Make it fun and easy so you want to do it. Once you find it, stick with it. To get the creative habit flowing, you need a working environment that’s habit-forming. It will impel you to get started. Morning rituals are the most basic form of self-reliance and confidence. They remind us that when all else fails, we can at least depend on ourselves.
My morning ritual is:
ONE WEEK “DIET” for CREATIVE HEALTH: Try going without distractions: mirrors, clocks, newspapers, reading, TV, multi-tasking, numbers, background music, talking on the phone…whatever you feel is a distraction that clutters your mind.
This is just for one week—to subtract your dependence on some of the things you take for granted. It is liberating and will force you to rely on your own ability rather than your customary crutches.
The act of giving something up doesn’t merely clear time and mental space to help you focus. It is a ritual too, an offering, a sacrifice, to the gods of creation.
You are beginning to prepare yourself…creating and developing your start up ritual, facing your fears, and becoming aware of your distractions!
I will go without ________________________________________________this week.
